TIG Welders are responsible for carrying out welding processes to join metal parts and fabrications, across the site.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ascertain job requirements from drawings and/or other specifications. 
  • Position and secure parts to be welded, using jigs and fixtures as necessary. 
  • Select appropriate welding equipment such as gas torch, portable arc equipment, semi-automatic or automatic machine. 
  • Fit appropriate torch tips, electrodes, etc to equipment. 
  • Connect hoses to gas tanks or wires from power supply to electrode and work piece. 
  • Adjust controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage or amperage. 
  • Preheat parts to be welded. Clean and smooth weld and examine visually. 
  • Join metals by using the following welding process and equipment; manual metal-arc equipment, metal-arc gas shielded equipment, Tungsten-arc gas shielded equipment. 
  • Operate overhead crane and basic slinging in a safe manner. 
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment. 
  • Use Oxy/fuel hand burning/heating/cutting equipment. 
  • Use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements including all relevant training/certification requirements. 
     

Qualifications Needed

  • NVQ Level 4 Fabrication and Welding
  • Specialization - TIG Process
  • Preferably in possession of CTC Clearance
  • Hold a valid CCNSG Safety Passport
